ASUS MX279H: Best 25 Inch Gaming Monitor Under 300
Two things which I feared the most is the quality of the gaming monitor’s backlight bleed and unbalanced lighting. But to my surprise, it’s an almost perfect unit!
I didn’t experience any dead/stuck pixels which are quite common for a monitor at this price. MX279H’s backlighting is well-made as it produces an even performance. In fact, it’s almost as if it’s bleed-free.
ASUS has a solid construction, it has one sturdy screw that functions to attach the silver base. I specifically love this feature as it remains firm even if I accidentally kick my desk…when I failed my flash.
One of the sought-after features of this product is on how extremely slim it is. When sitting, its panel is only about 2 cm. It doesn’t take a lot of space and it looks incredibly superior compared to my older units.
This has a Full HD AH-IPS display feature which allows you to get a 178° wide viewpoint in an advanced frameless construction.
For a better description, you’re able to freely run your hand across the gaming monitor without hitting any bulging edges around the border. Also, this sports a matte screen which saves you from experiencing glare while in-game.
You can locate the touch controls at the bottom-most of edge, and I love how receptive these controls are – very easy to get used to.

Its 1080P resolution allows you to clearly view the images in HD even if you’re sitting inches away from the screen. And for convenience, it comes with VGA cable, HDMI to DVI (male) cable, 3.5mm AUX audio cable and proprietary power adapter. All in all this is the best 27 inch gaming monitor that’s under the 300 bucks range.

ASUS PB277Q: Best 120Hz Gaming Monitor Under 300
I’ve already been in situations where I keep on frustratingly clicking on keyboard commands to save my character from death…only to find out I’ve already been dead 10 seconds ago.
But this unit is a work of art, its optimized response time allows me to quickly respond accordingly on the situation with fast reflexes.
It also displays a lesser amount of reflectiveness which makes the unit value for your money.
What I like most about is how it is 10% brighter than most of the other gaming monitors I’ve tried, and yet it still keeps its low-power consumption levels – saving is caring
If you’re solely after a unit which offers a crisper and clearer image with incredible viewing angles, and not so much with gaming monitors with high framerates, ASUS PB277Q will serve your best interest. It did for me since wasn’t an avid admirer of 3D gaming before.
This is an above-average 120Hz gaming monitor that gives you a smoother gameplay. If you have enough power push up to 120FPS, there’s an unmistakable difference in how suave the experience is.
WQHD monitor offers a better screen real-estate, not to mention its multipurpose function use is a HUGE winning factor.
That being said, ASUS PB277Q’s gaming monitor is the best because of its 27″ 2560×1440. It serves as an improved unit for gamers, content creators, and for a multitasking gaming monitor for performing all of these things at once.
As gamers, we tend to spend countless of hours mindlessly staring at our gaming monitor, which eventually stresses our eyes.
Luckily, it comes with Blue Light Filter technology intended to save our eyes from straining which allows us to reach an 8K MMR in Dota 2 easily (as if it’s that easy, lol).
Nope, it still impossible.
Having trouble with finding the perfect position? Not a problem. You’re able to adjust its height as it allows us to tilt, swivel, and pivot any way we want.
And it completes its set by providing you a wall-mount capability to view in style.

Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2715H: Best 1440p Gaming Monitor Under 300
Let me just say, the installation was easier than what I expected it to be.
I only had to snap the stand of the gaming monitor and do a number of plugs which doesn’t take longer than a minute to do.
Its color accuracy is unbelievably on point. And when compared to other PC gaming monitors, this shines through in a rich feature over a high-quality, expansive display.
This lets you stay connected with Dell’s nifty extensive ports, it may not be a big deal, but the power to charge, connect and venture handheld technologies makes it a useful gaming monitor for me as I have a lot of things going on while in-game – everything you need is right in front of you.
The size of the panel is good, I find it really comfortable to use. It’s slim and it works well. It offers a superior clean clarity performance. And it looks larger in person, thanks to its 6:10 aspect ratio.
The colors are consistent, which is a huge factor when buying gaming monitors; it remains factory tuned at 99% sRGB coverage at a deltaE < 3.
U2415 doesn’t use PWM (thank goodness) instead it uses an actual dimming circuit to manipulate and control the monitor’s brightness. Because of this switch, it eliminates the chance of experiencing backlight flickering.
Despite the fact that not a lot of people are able to notice this defect – backlight flickering – but for people like me whose eyes are quite sensitive, this is a rarely offered feature in gaming monitors. Also, this makes it the best buy for gamers who want to keep the brightness levels low.
My old trusted PA248Q features PWM backlighting, and flickering could be vividly seen when captured via phone. I personally like how Dell was able to fix this concern of mine with flying colors.
To test out its response time, I decided to try it out on fast-paced games – specifically, the game DOOM. And I’m happy to say that I didn’t notice any ghosting or blurring concerns with this model. It also comes with a rather low latency which I appreciate a lot.
Their little add-ons are greatly appreciated, you’re able to pivot 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise. If you plan on a multi-monitor setup, its thin edges make it perfect for the job.
- Easy to assemble
- Nice, Slim Bezels
- Slew of Ports
- Excellent Quality Pictures
- No VGA or DVI input
- Doesn’t mechanically detect the input port used

It’s very bright, it instantly turns on without asking for a warm up time, and it goes along with VE278H’s exceptional contrast. The gaming monitor features an anti-glare coating, which works amazingly well to eliminate most of the glare.
This unit’s max viewing angles is satisfactory, and although it doesn’t solve its color distortion completely, it only leaves you with minimal distortion – I don’t find it as a problem at all, considering the price we’re given.
No one really uses the built-in gaming monitor speakers, but I decided to try it anyways. Its 3W x 2 Stereo RMS is quite decent, to be honest. And I like how it doesn’t look like it wasted a lot of space, it comes with a perfect size.
Overall, it has a clean look. This is VESA mountable at around 100 x 100mm. And for a convenient clean-up, it features a quick and easy detachable base.
Because of how it’s being structured – a clean, slim design – you’re able to place it anywhere you want, and it doesn’t look obtrusive at all.
And of course, I don’t expect less from the world-renowned brand, ASUS offers a rapid replacement system with a 3 years warranty. They basically have your worries covered.

At the time I bought it, my OS was a Windows 10. It was wonderfully compatible with the operating system.
When I tested opening 2 windows simultaneously, my heart skipped a beat. But its 21:9 made it an easy task for my LG 25UM56P. And yes people, it didn’t drop the resolution!
I’ve noticed the first time that I turned the power on, colors were a bit too dark for my taste. But it only took a second of toggling the menu to make it all better, I don’t see this as a potentially threatening problem.

Upon opening the package, you get a number of add-ons including FREE GVA cable, a manual, and a disk software.
When we talk about the gaming monitor’s performance, it doesn’t give satisfactory value…at first – you have to tweak it a bit for its full potential.

I gave the construction a brief check before concluding that it’s both solid and sturdy at an economical cost. Don’t worry, though, from what I’ve encountered, its slim feature doesn’t compromise its functionality at all.
ASUS made this unit an ideal gaming monitor for a 178° wide-view angle, this works to reduce color shift horizontally and vertically on planes to secure quality at almost any angle.

Buying Guide: What Do I Need To Consider?
Budget Monitors Vs. Latest Models
I’ve already made it my lifelong mission to venture more on budget gaming monitors as I’m on the lookout for a low-priced but high in quality appliances.
And it is what I’ve expected it to be – there are some really good ones out there. However, there are just advanced features the newer models have.
But when it comes down to it, it’s all about personal preference.
- Direct Response Time - There are just budget gaming monitors, like ASUS VS248H-P , that offers a decent game play experience even at a very low price. Unless you’re a professional gamer, this shouldn’t be a problem.
- Excellent Viewing Angles - It’s been common for manufacturers to produce an incredible 178° wide-view angle monitors at a comparatively low price in commendable quality.
- Your Wallet Won't Cry - For the most part, budget gaming monitors are light to the pocket which makes it a popular choice for gamers on budget – especially college students.
- Lack of Features - For manufacturers to earn profit from a unit that’s around $200 with an expensive panel, connectivity and other features are being sacrificed.
- No Ghosting or Blurring - While it’s an ordinary occurrence for cheaper monitors, high-end units have better firmware features which prevent it from happening.
- Unmatched Image Quality - You won’t be visiting your local computer repair shop anytime soon. Unlike cheaper monitors, there’s no incidence of a backlight bleed as the colors don’t influence the display’s finish.
- Full-On Features - Since you’re paying for a higher price, you don’t have to compensate the monitor’s connectivity features and its build quality.
- Too Expensive - Latest models come off as too expensive – not everyone has the luxury to spend a lot of cash on gaming monitors. And sometimes, a decent-running monitor is enough.
Does Budget Equate To Value?
That’s a tricky one, but knowing your personal preferences, games, design, and use helps a lot in choosing a budget monitor.
Like I said, there are a lot of gaming monitors that fits in perfectly with your budget.
It’s true that you can’t have it all if you’re low on funds, but being able to identify what you need in a monitor and prioritizing it over other features, definitely cracks the case.
What Game Am I Playing?
In connection with the statement above, knowing what you want is the key – do you really need built-in speakers for your ideal game? Are you into fast action games? Do you love 3D vision games? Is multiplayer your jam?
These questions will help you find a suitable budget gaming monitor that fits your needs. Right now, I’m currently trying my luck on DiRT Rally. My extremely affordable (only below $200) Acer GN246HL works wonders for me.
That being said, if you’re only going to play for low-econ games like League, don’t settle for getting damn Predator just for the sake of owning one.
The higher the resolution of your gaming monitor is, the better its image quality. I would prefer going for units which showcase sharp images on the screen.
To evenly balance your gaming experience, try to check out the size of your gaming monitor’s screen and its resolution value for a high-quality production.
Want to know more? Check out this informative article on resolutions.
Refresh Rate is usually measured in Hertz (Hz). This can be defined as the number of times per second that a display refreshes the images; it functions to minimize motion blur that’s evidently a concern of LCDs and LEDs.
This mostly differs depending on your decision. But before purchasing, make sure that you have enough space for your gaming monitor – do you want a smaller screen or a larger screen?
In my case, I’m currently using a 27-inch motor as it’s just the right for the room and desk. But honestly, the larger the screen, the better the gameplay is!
Gaming Monitor Panel Types
Listen up, there are three common types of panels.
- Twisted Nematic (TN) panels – This is quite popular among budget gamers seeing that it’s quite affordable with faster refresh rates and pixel responses.
- Vertical Alignment (VA) panels – Focuses on a high native contrast ratio and production of full-bodied colors. However, constant ghosting effects transpire.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels – Comes out as having the best color quality, wider viewing angles, and better grey-scale performance.
Two words: It’s ANNOYING. Unfortunately, the input lag isn’t always indicated – maybe because it’s not something to boast about.
It’s the occurrence of delay between receiving a certain command and the time it takes to be processed on the screen.
Just make sure that your gaming monitor has an input lag of 16ms and below as it can be considered as a good measure for gaming.
Wrapping Up: What’s The Best Gaming Monitor For The Money?
We’re finally at the end of the article. And unfortunately, I can’t choose the best gaming monitor for the money for you. But if you want my opinion, I think you already know the answer – HP Pavilion!
It’s quite an unbelievable find for a decent gaming monitor to be UNDER $100! The performance feels like a slightly above average $300 gaming monitor. And don’t forget about HP’s elegant build as well!
These days it’s been selling like hotcakes! Without a second thought, I’d promote this to every budget-gamer out there who wants a nice, clean gaming monitor and a smooth gameplay.
