The reason why we’re particularly inclined to GTX 1070 GDDR5 is because of its smartly-designed features. For one, it has the elite MSI TORX 2.0 Fan technology. At the same time, its parts synchronizes perfectly which lets TWIN FROZR VI break the chains from what’s ordinary to awesome.
It achieves new levels of cool like it’s nothing.
Talking more on the TORX 2.0 Fan design, it screams innovation and technology. As a matter of fact, this time around, they have made it to generate 22% more air pressure. It means you don’t have to tolerate any loud, annoying sound while you’re busy kicking ass.
Investing money on a graphics card would suck if it’s only going to work well for only the first few days of gaming, but our friends at MSI found a solution.
Its MSI TORX 2.0 Fans have been partnered up with double ball bearings. It has the capacity of giving you a long lasting core for years of gaming marathons.
Even when this has been pushed to its limits, it keeps on spinning under pressure. The graphics card generally maintains its cool after hours or being abused.
It’s virtually impossible to make a successful, selling product to the market without paying close attention to details. They have managed to create the ultimate thermal design thru their meticulousness.
GeForce GTX 1070 has been equipped with premium thermal compound. This gives you a winning edge to outlive any competition. That’s not all, MSI even included an 8mm thick copper as well. If you’re wondering what it for is, it maximizes the process of heat transfer.
Moving on to the perks – hey, it won’t be a total package without any interesting features. It delivers an awesome customized LED. You’re free to choose any animation effects as long as it can be found in the MSI Gaming App.
You can change the way it responds to the game sound. Hell, you can even go crazy with the lights, breathing and flashing if you want it look super cool. But if you think that’s unnecessary and bothersome, you’re free to switch it off.
And lastly, this baby can support up to 4x display monitors, which gives you another win at life. It max resolution is at 7680 x 4320. Overall, it’s a great purchase for pros and beginners alike.
Let’s kick it off with the affordable GeForce GTX 1070. While it’s considered to be an entry-level card, it still gives off a pretty solid performance.
The installation was easy as baking pie – who am I kidding, baking pie is HARD. But in any case, I’m happy to report that there was no coil whine/noise (Hooray!)
Looking at the card, the length is around 6.7" in length. The best part is that it only needs one 8 pin power supply cable.
As for my experience, I already have the 6+2 pin so there’s no need for the adapter. By the way, the card doesn’t come with a cable. But I’m not complaining, it’s all good. It still blows your mind away with its performance on a 1440p.
Seriously, it can take any beast of a new gaming title at 1080p. Heck, it can be played at 60+ FPS – or even more. The construction is solid as hell, although I’m not a huge fan of its plastic case, but I can let it slide.
And no, it’s not bulky. Not ever. If you’re going to put this baby beside by large 280x, it outclasses it right away.
It delivers a selection of outputs on its front panel, which is always a plus. Specifically, you’ll be able to see that it comes in with 3 DisplayPort 1.4 outputs.
GTX 1070 has been made to be the center of high-resolution gaming (that’s still within budget) so it’s quite an amazing feat that Gigabyte has added HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output.
But aside from its high-resolution feature, there’s a lot more things this baby can do. As a matter of fact, programs that are computationally intensive is able to make use of GPU's 1920 cores.
It means the tasks will be accelerated with the use of CUDA or other APIs. Talk about the evolution of technology.
Another thing that has caught our attention is its cooling system – even appliances need to stay cool. Well, this has two 90mm fans to beat the heat.
As for the airflow, it has been divided with the help of the triangle fan edge. In addition, it has been led through smoothly thru the 3D stripe curve on the surface of the fan.
Note for the fan, it has a semi-passive cooling feature. In layman’s term, it won’t turn on if it’s only being used for low-power gaming. Sounds pretty convenient, don’t you think?
Let’s start the party with ZOTAC – for some reason, the name really gets to me. ZOTAC, just like the other brands we have discussed, is part of the elite brands that continues to serve its loyal customers.
They have designed a graphics card that has caught everyone’s attention. You know why? It’s SUPER compact.
I personally love the way it looks, if ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 was a person, he’d be as sleek as Channing Tatum. Seriously though, its powerhouse outlook seals the deal away. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t matter what your system is, it’ll fit most of the time.
To precise, it’s going to be compatible with at least 99% of the systems in the market. This completely gets rid of having to guess if whether it’s a match with your setup at home.
In addition, it eliminates the question of “Will it fit?” Well, the answer is most probably yes. And no, I’m not referring to anything else. Or am I?
But jokes set aside, convenience is one of the strongest feature for ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060. You’re also going to love how this has been crafted with aluminum sunflower heatsink (I like the sunflower part because it makes it sound badass.)
In any case, it has the role for enabling direct GPU contact. Not only that, it resolves the issue of what most graphics card has as this one promotes an even distribution of heat. It starts from the center going to the outer edges.
This has been added with a lot of commendable features to make gaming a better experience. One of which is the card’s icestorm cooling technology – no, it doesn’t make ice cream…although it sounds like it does. However, it does make sure that there’s balance between airflow and downward pressure.
Loud sounds have been kept silent due to its freeze technology as well. Another notable thing about this is that ZOTAC has made this VR Ready. You’re being welcomed with the new generation of technology.
Technically speaking, it offers low latency (thank goodness!) and an upgraded game for VR performance. Interestingly enough, all of these have been powered by NVIDIA VRWorks technology. Yes, including its plug-and-play compatibility.
With that being said, it gives you the advantage of having to hear and feel every in-game movements with the help of a super compact graphics card.
EVGA – you already know how competent the company is. I have said this on my other articles, but I’ll say it again. I have been a loyal EVGA user for 7 years, and I’m going to keep supporting the company as long as it continues to provide high-quality products.
People already know that you can never expect anything less coming from the master of graphics card. In particular, 1070 cards are already above average on the performance scale, but this gem creates a whole new different scale altogether.
Since everything about the brand is great, this has been equipped with EVGA ACX 3.0 cooling technology. It keeps your card in check while you’re engrossed with your gaming marathons.
There’s always something to look forward to when it comes to EVGA, and in this case, it’s its NVIDIA's new "Pascal" graphics processor – what can I say, in the area of gaming, new is always better.
Now, this “new” processor that the GTX 1070 FTW GAMING boasts is the most technologically advanced GPU that has been invented to date. You’re basically ahead of the competition by leaps and bounds.
But the magic doesn’t stop there, the performance that it offers is the result of being the lead of innovation. This has been considered to be at the top of its own league with its gaming technologies.
Do you want to find a graphics card that could offer you an immersive VR experience? Well, you have already found it. What’s more is that it has a SHP 2.0 which gives you the best of heat pipe and contact areas.
Here’s the thing, this is where most graphics card fail – the makers haven’t given too much though on the card’s cooling operation. Clearly, it’s a different case for the people at EVGA. They have made the fans optimized and geared to handle long hours of gaming.
At the same time, it doesn’t not make any sound. Well, it does, but it can barely be heard over the sounds. It generally delivers a quieter gaming time at home.
It’s quite impressive how they wanted to make this product last for a lifetime – if that’s possible. They have added the necessary features that preserves the life of your card as much as possible.
It comes in with double ball bearings for the purpose of longevity, and it has been made with an extremely low power motor. In other words, it generates more air flow than it does consuming power (for most of the brands, it’s the other way around.)
Going back MSI once again. It’s not our fault that MSI keeps on throwing some pretty cool cards out there. Earlier, I have reviewed Gaming Z, it’s time to learn about your X – no, not your stupid X, but the “Gaming X 8G”.
Okay, it was another lame joke – sorry, I can’t help myself. Moving on to its real specs, this is quite an outstanding card. However, its Gaming Z counterpart is slightly better than this (you might have already guessed that due to the fact that this came out first.) I’ll talk more about that in a bit.
First, I’ll let you see what this baby is made of. Since they’re practically siblings with the Gaming Z, it still has the key features of what makes the two of them great.
MSI is great for making all of the components work together in harmony. This has led MSI TORX 2.0 Fan technology to break the binds and make the card cooler than it was ever before.
As what you might have expected, this created 22% more air pressure. Yes, it gives you the advantage of silent gaming, there’s no sound to distract your or anything (except for your mom’s nagging at the back.)
You can’t have a complete package without its double ball bearings, right? This gives the fan technology an edge to last for many years to come. And what amazes everyone is its ability to handle the heat 24/7.
The thermal design, just like its younger bro, has been detailed to the extent of perfection. Hours upon hours of concentrating their time and efforts, they have made the ultimate thermal design.
You’ll also find its 8mm thick copper to be a life saver. This makes everything easier as it has the role of maximizing the heat transfer. Also, this wouldn’t be on the list if it deprived us from LED customization.
Here’s what you need to look for in a graphics card – shimmering, shining lights (although it doesn’t really affect the in-game performance.) But in any case, it deserves another plus point as each LED can be customized accordingly.
There are a lot of animation effects to choose from in the application. Depending on what your ideals are, you can switch it up in a swish of a finger.
But what’s the difference between X and Z? Answer: Not much. The Gaming Z basically has everything that Gaming X has to offer. However, their clock speeds are different. As you can see, Gaming Z is considered to be the top-tier variant. So yeah, the latter is better.
It seems that Asus has been stepping up their game, so much so that they even stole another spot on the list. We can only imagine what Asus has to offer this time, following up ROG Strix Radeon RX 570, we’re faced with ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 OC Edition. And as usual, this doesn’t disappoint.
If you decide to give this one a shot, you’ll be giving the best of ASUS technologies a go. I’m talking about using their fancy components to be your partner in your e-Sport gaming adventures.
This even has the awesome DirectCU III with Patented Wing-Blade Fans. It’s another way of saying you’ll get a huge bump in the performance department as it comes in as 30% cooler than other brands in the market today.
At the same time, it doesn’t give you any loud, unnecessary noise. It three times quieter than other leading brands as well. When it comes to getting premium quality build, Asus has it in the bag.
It has been equipped with Auto-Extreme Technology. This is to make sure that it keeps everything in check for reliability and longevity. Now, here’s where the fun comes in, it has an Aura RGB Lighting that highlights its optimization capabilities.
Because you know, there’s absolutely no point in spending this much money if it isn’t customizable. Also, it’s ready to get down if you want to go VR. This comes in with the necessary HDMI ports, you can easily get engrossed with immersive experiences.
Of course, the fun doesn’t stop there – we’re here to go big or go home, right homies? This models has a unique GPU Tweak II feature. Not only that, but it has XSplit Gamecaster along with it.
It delivers instinctive performance tweaking that satisfies your heart’s content. And what’s more is that you’ll get to enjoy an instant gameplay streaming.
ASUS has particularly made this product carry an awesome next-generation platform. Just so you know, this needs 7 times more than the conventional processing power of traditional 3D applications and games.
The card itself has a lot of features to offer. This has one heck of a PCB design, and it’s been made with superior components – because we deserve nothing less. It also boasts one hell of a thermal solution, it’s on a world-class level.
It basically has everything that’s required to be a competent graphics card – image quality, latency, immersed VR, and many more.
Finally, we’re on the last product on our list. And guess what? We’re still bringing the banner of ASUS right here. Like I told you, Asus isn’t here just to compete, it’s in it to win it.
We’re being faced with a graphics card which is powered by NVIDIA Pascal.
You can imagine how the best can only be partnered with the top dogs. Now, this is a bit of a game changer.
This product offers a more unique approach than its counterpart (STRIX OC Edition) when it comes to upgrading the performance and customization for the user.
You can give all the credit to its 1506 MHz Boost. Of course, it wouldn’t be a complete success without its Super Alloy Power II. At the same time, it keeps the golden similarities among ASUS cards like the RGB Lighting on the shroud & backplate, which takes the cake away.
We’re not here to spend a couple of hundred bucks just so we can tolerate the loud, annoying sound that the card emits. That’s why there’s more to love to ROG STRIX, it has been equipped with DirectCU III.
This an important role of keeping the card work efficiently and quietly. As for the next step, the makers even added a convenient FanConnect. It offers a cool, two 4-pin PWM fan headers. Of course, these guys are GPU-controlled.
Just like with the previous product, it’s been built to take on the next generation gaming. Well, we can’t live in the past (especially when gaming is of your interest.) This follows a power next-generation platform as well.
As expected, its virtual reality game is above average. The card has a number of unique features. PCB designs are all ready to go, and it has been partnered with superior components, too.
If I can tell you one thing, this is where style meets performance – at least, that’s what ASUS claims. But it’s true, it has the capacity to outclass any other brands due to its million colors displays that kills any light show.
If you’ve paid close attention, you might have noticed that the GPU temperatures are most likely to be higher than CPUs.
But the problem is, chassis fans only have one of them, which is the CPU temperatures. As a result, it offers inefficient cooling, and chances are your system isn’t taken care of.
This is where the card’s graphics come into play. As I’ve mentioned earlier, it has a two 4-pin GPU-controlled headers. This is quite nifty, you’ll be able to choose the spot where you want to target cooling.
It’s time to get down with the auto extreme technology. This has the role of eliminating the role of human production line in the assembly process.
In return, it gives you a fully automated system for better results. It has been deemed as more reliable than hand built alternatives, which is always a plus.
